FIRO-B™
FIRO-B™
Team-Building Retreat
The theory behind the FIRO-B™ instrument is based on the
assumption that human interaction may be divided into three categories:
issues surrounding inclusion, issues surrounding
control,
and issues surrounding affection. The Firo-B™ instrument measures each need
in two dimensions:
the expressed behavior
of the individual, and
the wanted
behavior from others.
Inclusion |
Control |
Affection |
Expressed
How much you
include other people in your life |
Expressed
Your need
for influence and responsibility |
Expressed
The warmth
and closeness you show for others |
Wanted
How much
attention and recognition you desire from others |
Wanted
The extent
to which you want others to take the lead |
Wanted
How much you
need the support of others |
The need for Inclusion has to do
with forming new relations and associating with people, and determines
the extent of contact
and prominence that a person needs.
The need for Control has to do
with decision-making, influence,
and persuasion between people, and
determines the extent of
power or dominance that a person seeks.
The need for Affection has to do
with emotional ties and
warm connections between people, and determines
the extent
of closeness that a person seeks.
Customized Retreat
The retreat will be
designed specifically for your team based on
the results of the FIRO-B™
assessment of individual team members and will incorporate
activities demonstrating the
differences and similarities
of team members’ needs for inclusion,
control and acceptance.
Information from the FIRO-B™ tool will help team
members to
maximize the
impact of their actions and identify
options for
increasing their job
satisfaction and productivity,
resulting in
overall improvement of team
performance.
Format of Retreat
Prior to the workshop
each participant will go on-line and
complete a response
form and receive, via email, an individual
profile of their Firo-B™
profile.
(Sample Firo-B™ Profile)
Dr. Frank will
create a composite profile for the entire team based on the individual
profiles. The results from
the FIRO-B™ assessment can help team
members understand their own
behavior and the behavior of others on the
team.
The retreat is divided into two parts: first half aimed at
understanding the individual needs profile; second half focuses
on the
composite profile of the entire team.
Through highly
interactive exercises team members will begin
to understand how they
tend to behave toward others and how
they want others to behave towards
them. Team members will receive
their individual FIRO-B™ profile as well as aninterpretive report
for organizations with information onimproving their team
effectiveness.
